Question 1

How do you play Merge?

Accepted Answer

Swipe, use the arrow keys, or press the arrow buttons. Every tile slides as far as it can, and two tiles with the same number combine into one worth double. A new tile appears after every move that changes the board.

Question 2

What makes this different from other sliding-tile games?

Accepted Answer

The run of tiles is generated from the calendar date rather than at random, so every player gets the same luck on the same day. In an ordinary sliding-tile game luck decides a lot and scores are not really comparable; here the only variable is how you play it.

Question 3

What is passing a board?

Accepted Answer

At any point you can send a link that carries your exact board and score. Whoever opens it carries on from where you stopped, on the same run of tiles, and the score keeps counting. It is co-operative rather than competitive, and it never touches your own solo best.
